Yale-NUS takes next step toward getting a mascot

On Wednesday 25 November the Student Government met with President Lewis and EVPs Doris Sohmen-Pao and Kristen Lynas to present the results of the YNC Pride Survey. At this meeting the senior members of the administration voted to continue with the winning option of the mascot survey, the East/West Fusion Dragon, on the condition that the designer make it simple, iconic and easily reproducible.

Following this vote, Public Affairs will begin tendering for designers while the Student Government will hold a ratification process at the start of the next semester to ensure a mandate for the mascot.

The final ranking of the mascots (as per the 264 respondents) were as follows:

  1. Dragon (East/West Fusion)
  2. Chow Chow
  3. Griffin
  4. Sichuan Golden Monkeys
  5. Rhodesian Ridgebacks
  6. Falcons
  7. Pangolin
  8. Mouse Deer
  9. Bull-Lion
  10. Dragon (Eastern)
  11. Manticore
  12. Platypus
  13. Humans
