After sitting in on a meeting with the faculty committee on the Science Common Curriculum, representatives of the Student Government (Scott and Ross) provided a memo summarising student feedback. This was sent to the faculty committee on April 12 and will serve to inform their decision-making and the final report the committee will produce. The feedback summarised here was based on focus group discussions and written feedback from students, collected in March 2016.
Last Thursday (31 Mar), representatives of the Student Government met with EVP Tan Tai Yong, Dean Bailyn, Director of Academic Affairs Navin Raj and VR Kate Sanger to discuss the thinking behind the Latin Honours policy and student concerns. The meeting included discussion on relative scores and grading curves, academic competitiveness, recognition for different types of excellence, employment and pay, pre-screening resumes, grad school, the announcement and communication of the policy, impact on juniors, the graduation certificate and transcript and more. Students are encouraged to read the minutes for more information, and bring any additional questions and concerns to the President’s Town Hall on Academic Affairs, happening next week (12 Apr).
